Peru aventura

On this trip to Peru you will get to know the country from different sides. You will visit the most famous sights of Cuzco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca. The program also includes destinations that very few tourists see. On the bus and train rides through the mountains you can admire breathtaking landscapes. The journey begins in Lima and ends in Puno on Lake Titicaca.

In the town of Puquio we learn about a project that provides school materials for school children with donations. From the price of the trip we use 15 € per person to support this project. On day 7 of the trip, we visit the school at 8 a.m., meet the teachers and school children and hand over the school materials.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima and transfer to the hotel. After dinner there is a first meeting with the guide and a discussion of the trip.

Day 2: In the morning we take the bus to Huancayo. After moving into the hotel, we will take a walk through the city.

Day 3: On this day we have to get up early. The train (tren macho) leaves at 6:30. The train ride to Huancavelica is a unique experience. We cross a breathtaking landscape. Tourists are rarely found on this train. In the afternoon visit to the pretty colonial town of Huancavelica.

Please note that the timetable of the train may change at short notice. In that case we might have to take a bus instead.

Day 4: After breakfast we drive by bus to Ayacucho (approx. 6 hours). On this trip we pass by remote villages. Ayacucho is one of the most fascinating cities in the Andes due to its high altitude, colonial atmosphere and local pre-Inca history.

Day 5: We stay another day in Ayacucho. Today we schedule a city tour. Richly decorated churches, beautiful colonial buildings and interesting museums make Ayacucho a city worth seeing.

Day 6: We take a bus to the small town of Puquio in the mountains. On the way we make a couple of stops and see a traditional region of Peru visited by very few tourists. In Puquio we will spend the night in a guest house.

After the excursion we take the train to Aguas Calientes, where we spend the night. Aguas Calientes is located in a gorge right under the ruins of Machu Picchu.

Day 10: In the morning we take the bus to Machu Picchu, the most famous sight in Peru. We have several hours to visit all parts of the impressive ruin complex. In the afternoon we take the train back to Cuzco.

Day 11: In Cuzco we still have three days to visit other sights of the city, make day trips, go hiking or just take a day off. There are also some remarkable restaurants in Cuzco. Or you can take salsa lessons.
